hi there, i have rescued 7 baby fire belly newts from a clueless pet centre 2 days ago (don't know yet if chinese or japanese cause the centre didn't believe there was even 2 diff 1s). the smallest (about 1inch n half if that) wont eat a thing nor go in water or move much. when i got them they had tiny shallow water dish so were all huddled up really dry and the 1 im on about seemed dead as it looked like a dried up twig. iv now put him in its own tank with enough water to submerge him self and a raised bit with moss (where he stays) iv tried blood worm (that's what they were being fed at pet centre) and tiny earth worms but it wont even open hes mouth. i keep spraying him with treated water to stop him from drying up but what els can i do? please help as i don't think hes gonna survive much longer, im surprised hes actually still alive now :( iv had newts in the past but had to move home so re-homed them but iv never had sick ones be4. she doesn't know how old they are either but said she got them about a week or 2 ago x

I took three scoops of protein powder recently, and i now know its bad to take that much what should i do?

the box said to take three scoops, and being gullible as i am i took three scoops. but now i know that that much protein is bad and that it was probably meant for body builders. I've just started using the elliptical for 30 minutes per session, and walking an hour (alternating in days)?

Not this specific one, but at least using one of these methods. I've heard a story of my friend's friend doing elliptical workouts for 30 minutes, three times a week and he lost 30 lbs in a month. Is that possible? Please give me tips on how to get the most out of these workouts also.

I have witnessed so many good shows cancelled, such as family guy, futurama, naruto, and so many more. Nowadays tv shows are all about watching immediate ratings and garnering earnings from television advertisements. Instead of watching quality TV the TV stations need immediate results/popularity which usually doesn't happen in time. Instead of having a few short commercials and then returning to the action of TV shows we are bombarded with minutes of mind-numbing ads that frankly are almost as long as the show itself. TV is supposed to be enjoyable entertainment but big TV stations are raking in huge profits in exchange for the TV shows that the viewers want to watch. I personally think that TV stations should continue airing such great shows as family guy and futurama and naruto and even the simpsons because even though they might not result in immediate profit, the viewers will be happy and over time new shows will be able to develop a fanbase. Just an example of how making a profit has affected TV, for example king of queens and two and a half men were replaced by cooking shows and reality shows that are much less popular. TV is filled with reality tv shows to the extent that most of what is on TV has become boring, pointless programming and even full hours of paid TV ads because reality shows are much cheaper and as well paid TV ads result in huge profits. The greed of these corporations has severely reduced the quality of many quality programs/shows out there. Does anybody notice that TV is simply a chance for people to make money?

Attic insulation problem?

I just found out I have only a 2" R-8 BAT in between my cieling trusses, no blown in insulation. The vapor barier is on the drywall side, and there are no ridge vents. Just weighed the saucepan full of frozen vegetables that I eat every day as my main meal and it weighs 1.2 KG along with a skinless chicken or other lean meat. Normally this comprises 5 or 6 different vegetables at any one time consisting of peas, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, swede, courgette, asparagus, cut cabbage, brussels sprouts etc. Through the day I probably have an additional 5 or 6 generous portions of fruit and veg. As the RDA of fruit and veg is 5 X 80 grams portions totalling 400 grams through the day, is the 1.2 KG (1200 grams) I'm eating in one sitting alone way too much? I'm worried about the volume by size and weight plus if I could be getting too many vitamins and minerals from it all that could be toxic and damage my health. Fermentation started within 24 hours and krausened to a large head within 36 hours then slowed down within 7 days I racked into my secondary and fermentation never resumed I re Inoculated with 2 Wyeast Acctivator packs still nothing and Its been 48 hours in the secondary. my starting gravity was 1.100 .The guy at my local brew supply is a huge fan of high gravity beers and he told me he holds back adding all the sugars to his wort and actuly ferments the first part as a starter then adds the rest of the sugars in a second wort after the yeast is at full kraussen to the primary fermenter . Has anyone ever heard of this .It sounds genius ,Using the first part as your starter.Also Is there anyway to restart what I already have or should I just go ahead and keg it

Am I allowed to claim an Army Medal I qualify for but was not issued because I ETS'd out of the Army?

I was in the Army for 3 years and spent six months in Bosnia for the SFOR peace keeping mission. I left halfway during my units deployment to ETS out of the Army because my enlistment was up. Before I left I was issued the NATO Medal and Armed Forces Service Medal by my unit which are both on my DD-214. A few years after I left the Army vets from Bosnia were also awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal in addition to the other two medals. The AFEM is not on my DD-214 and I do not have orders for the medal because I had already been out of the Army for a few years when they finally authorized the medal to Bosnia vets. I have sent in proof of my qualification to The National Personnel Records Center to have my DD-214 amended and to have the EFEM added but it has been several months and I have not heard anything back from the NPRC. My question is can I claim that I have an AFEM and more importantly I am making a shadow box of my Army medals and I want to include the AFEM in my shadow box but I don't want to put a medal in there I am not 100% sure belongs in there (although I meet all the criteria to qualify for the medal). Again, yes I am trying to get my DD-214 fixed. Any help from current or former military personnel would be great. Thanks!

My dog likes to steal bananas and apples from the kitchen countertop. Are they bad for him?

While his brother is pretty much a kibble and water kind of dog, this one will eat just about anything left out on the counter. I would go to the eye doctor, they can give you some anti biotic drops that will clear it up in a few days... I had a similar issue a few years ago, I don't know what it was called, but the eye drops healed it in no time. Im guessing it was just a really bad/infected stye.

You can find an old metal chandelier at a thrift store, spray paint it, and add christmas ornaments (only clear gl or plastic and those ropes of clear beads can be placed on the top and bottom of the arms of the chandelier}. you may have to drill holes to run wire through to hold some of this in place but try your hot glue gun on some of it. You could add accents of gold to it, adding a metallic in to complement your gray sheets - or use silver accents to match the sheets. The walls need to be pink but I'd skip the bubblegum color; chose a prettier softer shade but no too light. The trick is to pick out your pink you love, then go 2 shades lighter. You could frame prints of famous paintings or movie posters, or rely on scrolled sconces and frames (the can even be empty). Use heavy brocade curtains. Be sure to add pattern and textures, as well as lace and tulle. Ribbon works. A decadent zebra rug might look good - you'll have to try it out.

Is there a date a landlord is required to turn on heat in New Hampshire?

I've heard Oct 1st, Oct. 15th. Landlord will not turn on the heat until Nov. 15th. I've heard there are laws that require heat to be turned on earlier, but these all seem to apply only to federally-subsidized housing like Section 8, HUD -- basically welfare cases. This is a private home that does not receive federal tax payer funds. Does anyone else think it's unfair that people on welfare should have not only their heat paid for by taxpayers, but also to have their right to heat protected by law- so that they can sue if heat isn't provided? Satellite inside apt?

Hi i live in an apt and want to know if i can install a satellite inside my apt. I have read a lot of responses to this question, and the problem is the answers are entirely inconclusive. So I thought well then let me ask my own question then, so here it goes. Like everyone else my landlord won't allow the dish so this is why i'm resorting to these measures. Okay so, I have two very large southern facing windows. I live in New York City. I live on what could best be considered a ground floor apt even though it's a little over a half-flight off the ground. There are no tress around, but there are buildings directly across the street my building. They are short-story buildings, only about six or seven stories high. some of the things i have read on here say that the dish will work as long as the windows are plexigl, but I have no idea what the windows currently are. I will make an umption that they are prob single-pane windows. Okay so what do ya'll say?? will it work or won't it. I called the direct t.v people and they said something about poss using a pole or a tripod to mount it, I don' care what they use as long as it works. I recently interviewed for a well-known worldwide shipping company. It was for a supervisory position in a distribution center with hours from 3a-8a. I was asked very personal questions, of which I answered, and even the female interviewer made comments like " I know I am not really supposed to ask that" and "you're not going to report me are you?" The questions were about my family situation and whether I had someone to watch my daughter during these hours, etc. She called and asked me to come in the next day at 6am to meet with the male sup and see what he does. I came in and he was very rude to me saying " I am just really concerned that you're a single mom and you can't ever miss work" along with some other comments that were in my opinion ist. I am college educated with a strong attendance history. I was excited about the job after the interview and call back, but felt purposely deterred/discouraged from it in the morning. Any recourse?

IPhone 3GS exposed to water still works - but for how long?

My iPhone 3GS was submerged in clean water for no more than two seconds about a week ago. It never turned off and kept working perfectly. A week later, the only sign of the unfortunate event is that the water-damage indicator in the headphone jack has been tripped to the half-pink, half-white state. Dog GallBladder Infection?

Hello. Our pet was diagnosed with a Gall Bladder infection and the vet has mentioned that he will only live for another week if left alone. They said they can surgically remove the Gall Bladder but the chances of survival are 50% after the surgery. The surgery is pretty steep in price but we do not really care if it will save him. They say if they can get by the first 2 days then they will be ok. Is there anything a person can do to make sure the aftercare is done perfect so they can get through the first two days? Any advice from anyone that has gone through this or has expertise in this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Roy Acuff, Bill Monroe, and the rest who made the grand ole opry what it is today would be spinning in their graves if they knew stuff like that was going on today at the mother church of country music. I am a country purist, and it pains me to see the music my grandparents brought me up on going in the direction it is going in today. I may be only 36, but I grew up on the original singers of the grand ole opry through records and rerun shows that my grandparents would watch and play whenever I came over for a visit. Country music is rooted in gospel, southern folk music, and original tonk music from the 30's to the 50's. To think that Shania can get on stage there dressed like a 2 dollar hooker or Gretchen Wilson in her skin tight jeans, makes me wonder how long before REAL country music completely vanishes. Sweetie I would definitely only recommend getting one ONLY as a last resort. My mum had one back in 88 so I don't know if I can tell you much because it was so long ago and I was just a young kid. I know it's major abdominal surgery so don't expect to be getting up and moving around too quickly after it for at least a couple of months because it will be very painful. I remember mum having quite a few pain killers for it though and looking after me and my brother as dad and mum had just spilt up so it was really bad timing for my mum. Sorry I can be of much more help sweetie but I guess as I said, only do it as a last resort because I remember my mum going into early menopause a few years after it. Honda makes a Shadow 600 and 750, both of which are good starters. I have a Honda Rebel 250, and it's a fantastic beginner, but you will want something bigger in a month. Yamaha V-Stars come in a 650cc model, and Suzuki makes both a 500cc and 750cc bike that serve as wonderful starters. All three Companies make a 250cc starter bike, but if you plan on taking a penger anywhere or doing a lot of freeway riding, go with at least a 650cc bike. Also, try going to a dealership and sitting on a few bikes to see which one fits you the best. Be safe and enjoy!

We use a brand from the dollar stare called Nuby. But it has a soft plastic spout and lid which you mentioned you didn't like. We like it because he can control the flow and drops of water come out if he sucks or bites on the spout. It worked much better for us than the hard plastic lid type did. We do let him have one in bed but so far, he doesn't drink anything but water in it ever, so I don't worry about tooth rot. He also doesn't get it unless he is actually thirsty, he doesn't use it like a pacifier and just chew on it to chew on it. mm..I don't know that I've seen any large ones with the handles either. Just the ones like an actual cup with a straw thingy in it. I don't know about going cold turkey. Our son still gets one bottle at night before we put him to bed, so he still uses both, but mainly a sippy cup.Good luck!
