Dog GallBladder Infection?

Hello. Our pet was diagnosed with a Gall Bladder infection and the vet has mentioned that he will only live for another week if left alone. They said they can surgically remove the Gall Bladder but the chances of survival are 50% after the surgery. The surgery is pretty steep in price but we do not really care if it will save him. They say if they can get by the first 2 days then they will be ok. Is there anything a person can do to make sure the aftercare is done perfect so they can get through the first two days? Any advice from anyone that has gone through this or has expertise in this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
