Why do people say capitalism triumphed over communism?

your right it usually does collapse by itself. However during the cold war Reagan said that we will spend russia/soviet union into the ground. Hence the cold war. A war of money is what it was. And of course indirect fighting. But the point is we spent them into the ground and in this case capitalism triumphed over communism and created/accelerated/enhanced its fall.
