Why do people judge before they know anything?

I'm wiccan and i've been called a "satan worshiper" and many other things! why do people judge before they actually find out anything? it's like they talk about stuff they have no clue what it is about! And i'm not making fun of anyone i just dont understand why people judge before they actually learn about it.
